Acupuncture for Migraines

Do you suffer from headaches or migraines? You already know you’re not alone. According to the Migraine Research Foundation, “about 18% of American women and 6% of men suffer from migraine. While most sufferers experience attacks once or twice a month, about 14 million people experience headaches on a near-daily basis.” More than 90% of sufferers are unable to work or function normally during a migraine episode.  This can lead to missed work, lack of career mobility, days literally spent in the dark, and missed school plays or birthday parties.

Unfortunately the standard treatment for headaches and most migraine sufferers is prescription drugs. Prescription drugs and over the counter medications can have severe side effects such as bleeding ulcers, hearing loss, liver and kidney failure, and cognitive impairment.  Many patients feel they are at the mercy of their condition with limited choices and continued suffering.

The good news is several studies have shown that regular acupuncture treatments can not only reduce the frequency of migraines but also decrease their severity.

For my patients that prefer not to take medication, they have found acupuncture to bring relief to their pain and dramatically reduce the frequency and severity of their headaches and migraines. In some cases it is months without pain.

That’s why people increasingly turn to acupuncture to help with migraine and other headaches. That means less pain and the ability to be more productive and enjoy life!

If you suffer from headaches or migraines, it’s time to end the suffering and give acupuncture a try!
